I remember those times where I used to use one concealer for ages (you know, the Mac Studio Finish, a good old classic!) and never wanted to change it because I loved it so much. Well, it is funny to look back to those days because now I love to try different concealers all the time. I picked out the ones I love a lot recently, so let’s get started.
The tinted eye brightener is an under eye highlighter. It has little to no coverage but it is perfect for those days where you don’t want something heavy on your skin but still want to look fresh. It works great to even out my bluish under eye circles and due to its sheer finish it is not creasing at all.
Oh mother, where do I start?! This concealer is, in my opinion and based on my skin tone, one of the best concealers out there. The consistency is very creamy and incredibly easy to blend, it is also easily buildable. I guess this is the only concealer I ever used without foundation because the colour is so true to my skin colour that you won’t notice it, it just looks so natural. It lasts incredibly long and if you set it immediately after application it stays in place (clever wordplay!) all day long. I realized that I rather reach for my beauty blender to work this concealer in, maybe because of the creamy texture. Oh, by the way, this one has an SPF of 10.
I choose Light 2 Vanilla in winter or generally if I don’t have a tan (do I ever have a tan? #palgirlsclub) and Medium 1 Custard during summertime (if I have a light tan :-)). The medium coverage is brilliant and as well as the Bobbi Brown and Estée Lauder concealers these don’t crease in no sense. The concealers give a highlighting effect as well. Nars offers a grand range of colours so each one is served.
Also a lovely concealer with a pretty good colour match, at least in my case. I have to say that the concealer is not weightless for me, but the coverage is incredible for an evening make up. I experienced that if you don’t set it right away it creases immediately and collects in the fine lines under you eye.
My favorite concealer of all times. It combines everything: perfect coverage for dark circles, long lasting throughout the whole day, decent colour match, smooth appearance on the skin. Setting is not desperately required, especially if your skin is on the dry side. I have combination to oily skin and set with a bit with translucent or banana powder. I tried it with different foundation but I achieved the best result in combination with a Chanel foundation.
A concealer without the usual applicator, you just press out the product out of the tube. The consistency is over-creamy and best to work in with a beauty blender or fingers. I also tried to work it in with a brush but it was simply a streaky nightmare. The coverage is smashing, leaves a fresh look without being cakey. I have to criticize the colour range, I mean, only 4 colours is a bit poor and I would love to try this concealer in one shade lighter.
Goodbye naughty blemish marks! This product is indeed marvellous with its ability to cover each and every spot, blemish mark, pigmentation, redness or whatever you want to cover. The texture is thick but still creamy enough to blend it in evenly. I can highly recommend this product!
Another Estée Lauder product from the Double Wear range. This one is also very high in coverage and rather for covering imperfections than under eye circles. I apply it either with my fingers to really warm it up or with a tiny brush and then dab it in with my finger (à la Lisa Eldridge).
It is basically not a concealer, but I use it as a highlighting concealer on top of another concealer, so this is what counts for me. The lifting effects stays quite long but I would say that I doesn’t last all throughout the day. Nevertheless, it is a great product for the special highlighting effect without being heavy or too noticeable.
Yes, I am still obsessed with the Touche Éclat. As well as the MAC one, this is a highlighting touch up pen, great for highlighting the under eye part, brow bone or cupid’s bow for a natural glow.
If you suffer from dark under eye circles this concealer might be a great match. It evens out the inconvenient circles and the skin tones seems more smooth as well. There is one thing I have to refer to. It is absolutely essential to work the concealer in as quickly as possible since it is setting immediately. Therefore, it is based on personal taste to set it with powder or not. I tried it without setting and it is not creasing or anything, just stays on without a problem.
I didn’t swatch the Highlighting Concealer from MAC and Yves Saint Laurent since I wasn’t able to catch the effect on my arm.
