Disappointing Products

I’m sure a bad buy doesn’t only happen to me. The internet is packed with reviews and advices, sometimes we are just overflowed by information. Of course I am well aware of the fact that products which work for others might be a total disaster for me, my needs or skin condition and this also applies vice versa. I still wanted to write this post down and tell you about my disappointing experience with some previous purchases.

Clarins UV Plus SPF50

I am really sorry to give this sunscreen a bad review since I am generally a Clarins enthusiast, but it is a huge fail. The consistency is too runny, it doesn’t sink into the skin but sticks to it and leaves a horrible white colour on the skin. So, it basically delivers all bad things you definitely don’t look for in a sunscreen. I gave this one many tries and each time I was highly disappointed. This is just a greasy and poor product.

Paula’s Choice Resist Youth-Extending Daily Mattifying Fluid SPF50

Let’s continue with sunscreen, shall we? I had high hopes for Paula’s Choice sunscreen because, I need to repeat myself, I loved all the brands products I have used before. But well, the Clarins SPF is nothing compared to this one. It is suited for combination to oily skin so it actually should have been great for my skin. My skin’s completely turned off by the Paula’s Choice SPF and it always led to crazy instant redness and itches. If you have sensitive skin take your hands off of this!

Dr. Hauschka Clarifying Toner

Hmm, it is definitely not a poor product BUT it did nothing to my skin 🙁 It didn’t help with shine, pores nor imperfections or spots so I am kind of disappointed. Anyway, I will use it up and give it another try as a refresher in summer, placed in the fridge. I’ll keep you updated.

Dior Cheek & Lip Glow

The Cheek and Lip Glow is very similar to Benefits Posietint but believe me the comparison is unfortunaltely like day and night. This product is not Dior-worthy. It is a no-go for dry lips and looks very patchy on the cheeks. Dior has a fantastic range of decorative cosmetics and you should stick to the ordinary products.

Vichy Normaderm Deep Cleansing Purifying Gel & Purifying Pore-Tightening Lotion

Why in the world would you invent such harsh products and call it skincare? Both of these products caused huge irritation on my skin even though they are allegedly suited for sensitive skin with impurities. I bought the cleansing gel and toner due to recommendations but these products get a smooth insufficient. No, no, no, alcohol should never be listed as a second in the ingredient list (I am such a fool, should have checked out the ingredient list before buying it – you live and learn!).

Vichy Beautifying Cleansing Micellar Oil

Here we have another example of a complete fail skincare product. It also caused irritations on my skin and it was still burning quite some time afterwards. Pureté Thermale products are actually very gentle to the skin (I loved to used the moisturizer ages ago) but this disappointed me a lot.

Noreva Zeniac LP Intensive Keratoregulating Treatment

Noreva is a quite unknown brand but I already talked about one product in my Great Skin Guide.  Well, I didn’t expect too much since I never read anything about the Zeniac LP Treatment before. It is for thick skins and helps mattifying acne-prone skin but on my skin it did nothing at all besides drying out the skin immensely.

Avène Cold Cream

My hands get extraordinary dry in winter and this year I thought I’d finally give the cold cream a try since I read so much about it before. Hmm, at some point this cream doesn’t sink into my skin at all and peels off (???) while I massage it in. This is completely weird and uncomfortable, so that is the reason why I mention the cold cream in this post.

Burt’s Bees Coconut Foot Cream

Yea, I actually feel bad to put this foot cream on the list since it is not a completely bad product, but there is one point I can’t accept. The texture is lovely and nourishing and the smell is heavenly, like pure coconut! However, this cream does NOT sink into the skin AT ALL and lays super thick on it instead. It doesn’t matter if I wear socks or not, it doesn’t want to sink into the skin. Whenever I use the foot cream, put socks over and let it penetrate overnight, my feet are still creamy in the morning. If I say creamy I actually mean greasy. Ugh, yuck!
