Great Skin Guide – How To Get The Glow

Glow Skin Guide

Each and every time I scroll through my Instagram feed I get the feeling that the good old days of natural and barefaced days are gone and everyone’s make up needs to be desperately #onfleek. Everybody wants to look flawless, myself included, but I don’t believe in the thought that makeup is the only remedy to achieve an impeccable appearance. I am an advocate of the thought that great skin starts at the root: your bare skin. You can cover every single spot, every scar and imperfection, but at the end of the day after taking all the make up off you are still confronted with the flaws you try to hide. Instead of spending all the money on make up we should concentrate on spending an equal amount of money on skincare products as well. I am constantly on the hunt to find products that are suited for my skin and help it to glow naturally. The whole skincare regime is very important as well as finding products that work together. Sometimes it takes some time to figure out what your skin likes and what shows a positive effect on your skin. I’ve picked out my favorite products which improved my skin a lot so I’d like to share them with you.

Paula’s Choice Resist Weekly Resurfacing Treatment 10% AHA

This exfoliant changed my life forever. I use it for around four years now and I am still obsessed about what it does to my skin. It is a liquid exfoliant so you apply a few drops to a cotton pad and rub it gentle over the skin. It delivers very fast result, the skin looks fresher, younger and smooth, blemishes fade much quicker. I have sensitive skin and I’ve never ever experienced any irritation at all but you should still be a bit careful if you are new to AHA and your skin is not used to acids, it may cause irritation. It is immensely important to use a high SPF after using the Resurfacing Treatment since the AHA increases your skins sun sensitivity and also the risk of getting a sunburn or pigmentation.

Noreva Alphacid Reenergising Face Care

My dermatologist recommended to use this moisturizer and I am so thankful for the tip since I didn’t know the brand before. It is suited for normal, oily and troubled skin which is also dry or dehydrated at the same time and helps to fight adult acne, eczema, perioral dermatitis and rosacea. The cream contains 1,3% AHA which makes it perfect for everyday and/or night, works also great under make up. After application it causes a little tingle on the skin. It is fantastic for dull or tired skin since it lightens up the complexion. And again, an SPF of at least 30 is inevitable while using this cream.t

Banila Co. it Radiant Brightening Toner

Some time ago I travelled to Hong Kong and bought a lot of products from Banila Co., including the Radiant Toner. But what makes it so special and what is the difference between this one and other toners? It is a high hydration toner, it contains 10 white flower complexes and hence you can use it around the delicate eye area, too. It moisturizes the skin but it gently takes off the dead skin cells simultaneously, leaves the skin fresh and radiant. Please note: it is not recommended to apply the toner on broken skin, scars or dermatitis.

Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil

This blue treasure has a holy grail status for me. There is nothing I don’t love about it. It is perfect for every skin type, plumps the skin overnight (obviously, hehe), evens out wrinkles, refines the pores, moisturizes. You see, the list is long but believe me, this stuff really delivers! The oil contains retinol, basically one of the best anti-ageing ingredient out there and is coloured in a pretty deep blue but the colour fades when you massage it into the skin. I never combine it with a moisturizer or serum, it is enough treatment for my skin for the night. Even after a short night and little sleep the skin looks so fresh and feels incredibly smooth. The Sunday Riley Luna is cruelty-free, two thumbs up!

Charlotte Tilbury Goddess Skin Clay Mask

You are in need of a quick skin fix because your skin looks dull or tired or you have a special occasion coming up? Here you have the answer – Charlotte Tilbury’s Goddess Skin Clay Mask is your last-minute SOS product. It cleans out the pores but at the same time is spends moisture (thanks to rosehip and almond oil). 10 Minutes is all you need and you have the softest baby skin.

Ren Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask

Yes, another mask. This Ren Mask is an effective peeling mask and the formula consists of four fruit-acids to remove dead skin cells and dirt and to shrink the pores. It is recommended to use the mask for 10 minutes, for me 5 to 7 minutes are more than fine because the mask is actually not suited for sensitive skin (I resist!). Anyway, it causes no irritations on my skin and evens out my complexion. The ingredients are fantastic and the mask doesn’t contain any kind of parabens, mineral oil, sulphates, petrolatum, synthetic fragrances or colours or glycolic silicones. On top of that it is also cruelty-free.

Alpha-H Liquid Gold with Glycolic Acid

Well, the name says it all, right? The Alpha-H Liquid Gold is also a liquid exfoliant and quite similar to the Paula’s Choice Treatment but a bit more gentle. You can definitely use it up to 3 or 4 times weekly, depending on how used your skin is to acids. Liquid Gold is effectively clearing the complexion and great for those who suffer from adult acne. For best results you go without your moisturizer and allow the product to deeply work on its own. I would probably not recommend it to dry AND sensitive skin types, the amount of alcohol may be to harsh and irritate the skin. And again I have to repeat myself – SPF is essential.

Kiehl’s Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate

The newest addition to my liquid exfoliating lotions is the Kiehl’s Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate and it is for sure the most gentle peeling I have ever used. The Quinoa Husk Extract improves the skin and its entire texture. I used it daily for two months in a row, last November and December, and I really enjoyed using it. During that time I travelled to warmer places and I had no problem with sun sensitivity at all. I guess this might be one of the best liquid peelings for sensitive skin on the market right now.

iS Clinical Active Serum

There is a reason why I don’t use the Kiehl’s Concentrate too much currently and that is the iS Clinical Active Serum. This is the holy grail product I swear by right now and I use it every single day. Due to my annoying adult acne I needed a more effective product and the Active Serum is a plain blemish killer. It is THE product I was always looking for to clear up my skin. Since I use it I had no huge breakout anymore and almost all stubborn blemishes on my cheeks are a thing of the past.

Biologique Recherche Lotion P50

A lovely friend told me about this exfoliating lotion. I actually never paid to much attention to Biologique Recherche products but after hearing her raving about the Lotion P50 I had to get it. The lotion balances the pH of the skin and hydrates it. There is one point I am not too pleased with and that is the smell. I can’t really describe it but in some point it smells abrasive to me. It is suited for normal to oily skin types and can’t be used at one’s pleasure but I only use it once a week since the exfoliation effect is very intense.

Sarah Chapman Skinesis Overnight Facial

Hmm, this stuff is made in heaven and the scent is also a dream. The Overnight Facial is a serum with a very oily consistency that boots your collagen overnight and vitamin A smoothes lines and wrinkles. I love the combination of the Overnight Facial and iS Clinical Active Serum and a splash of thermal water on my skin. If you are looking for a new serum and a touch of luxury check out the Overnight Facial, you won’t regret it!
