Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a feature naturally occurring in the human body, found in almost every cell and it is the main molecule of the extracellular matrix of the skin. In the 70’s Hyaluronic Acid was discovered for the very first time. Only one molecule alone is able to hold up a 1000-fold of its own weight in water and that is the reason why HA is a major skin plumper. As we age, starting in our mid-twenties, the natural production of HA in ours bodies decreases.
The NIOD Multi-Molecular Hyaluronic Complex is a topical hyaluronic serum to lock in moisture and nourish the skin. The formula contains a mix of 12 different forms of hyaluronic compounds, high and low molecular weight compounds. A short explanation: High molecular weight molecules are larger than low molecular weight molecules hence they just protect the surface of the skin. Low molecular weight molecules on the other hand are smaller and sink deeper into the skin, penetrate in deeper skin layers, bind the moisture and stimulate your own production.
The serum comes in a UV-protected glass bottle with a pipette. Even if the consistency is pretty watery (water-based, obviously) you can easily dispense the product by dropping it directly to your skin. I don’t recommend to drop it on your fingers first, you would just waste a lot of product. I never experienced a consistency like that before, it is unlike every HA I used before but I mean it in a positive way. It absorbs immediately which I love, plumps deeply and my skin feels lovely afterwards. Usually a HA stays a little while on the skin so maybe, if you have dry to very dry skin, it may feel not “thick” enough but be sure, it definitely penetrates in the deeper layer of the skin. The serum is the first product in my skin care regime (also recommended by NIOD) after cleansing and toning and I wait around 30 seconds until I continue pampering.
Due to the fact that HA is a natural feature of the body it suits each and every skin type and causes no reaction. Yes, it even works perfectly for my oily-acne-prone skin 🙂 It is free from alcohol, silicone and nuts. I started using the serum (30ml) two and a half month ago, 3-4 drops every morning and evening, and the bottle is almost empty by now. Also, I had problems with other HA’s during the daytime, especially when it comes to applying makeup after but that never happened with the NIOD serum. No greasiness nor unwelcome surprises. I am not free from breakouts yet but my skin tone looks way more even and my skin is plumper, that’s why I am going to order a new bottle to see the full result after a few more month, I have high expectations. If you’d like to pimp up your skin care routine and look for THE product, this is the one to add. You can’t do anything wrong.
The NIOD Multi-Molecular Hyaluronic Complex is vegan and cruelty-free.
